Background

Joey grew up in Orem, Utah, with younger sister Jacki and older brother Christopher. She began her training at her mother’s studio, The Dance Club, and spent her summers in Los Angeles training at professional studios in the city. After graduating from high school, Joey attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where she received a scholarship for one year before jumping into the professional world. Joey quickly started working in regional theatre, toured with Mariah Carey, appeared on Broadway and in film, and much more! Of all Joey’s many experiences, she finds great joy in teaching and choreographing and the opportunity to give back. Joey has toured with Mariah Carey on her Butterfly World Tour and performed at The Radio City Music Hall as one of the world-famous, long-legged Radio City Rockettes! She appeared on Broadway as ‘Elaine’ in “Sweet Charity” with Christina Applegate, “Dance of the Vampires” with Michael Crawford, “In The Heights”, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", "The Mambo Kings" and more!

TV/Film Performances

Joey has appeared in the film versions of “Chicago", “The Producers”, and "Rock of Ages". TV credits include So You Think You Can Dance” (Choreographer), “Smash”, “MTV Video Music Awards”, “VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards”, “Sex & the City” and the upcoming film, “Winter’s Tale” starring Collin Farell and many more. Joey has also appeared in numerous TV commercials, most notably for Nike, Old Navy, Adidas and Mercedes Benz.

Choreography

Joey’s choreography can be seen on TV, Broadway and more. Most recently her choreography has been showcased on ”So You Think You Can Dance” Seasons 5, 6 & 7. Joey served as the Associate Choreographer for the Tony Award-winning Broadway hit “In The Heights,” as well as the Encore Summer Series “The Wiz” at City Center.

Teaching Credits

Joey has been teaching for over 16 years. Her versatility in all styles of dance has moved her across the world. Joey has taught as faculty for WCDE, The Pulse and numerous studios throughout the United States, Canada, Amsterdam and London, including Broadway Dance Center in NYC.
