Outstanding Dancer

  • Independent Dancers are welcome to attend the workshop, but are not eligible to audition for Outstanding Dancer Scholarships
  • Scholarship awards are not transferable, unless both teachers (previous and current) consent. If a dancer switches studios, they must provide written permission to NYCDA from their previous studio to utilize previously won scholarships. Regional Scholarship Winners and Runner-Ups must attend Nationals as the same studio they won their Scholarship regionally.

Seniors Ages 16-19

NYC Dance Alliance seeks to provide Senior dancers (ages 16-19) with a professional New York audition experience through a scholarship audition class. The audition class will consist of a short ballet and jazz combination. Only auditionees and registered Teachers will be given access to the audition ballroom. Absolutely no observers.

  • The Senior Audition will occur on Day 1 of the Workshop. No results are shared until the end of Day 2.
  • The “Convention Finale” will include final scholarship announcements and awards.
  • Final results are at the discretion of the judges.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Dancers must be registered for the entire workshop as a Senior - ages 16-19 only (age as of January 1, 2024).
  • Dancers will be assigned numbers to wear in all classes during the convention weekend. Dancers may be asked to perform combinations from workshop classes during final audition judging.
  • Once you have won as either a Regional Outstanding Dancer or Runner-Up for the 2023-2024 Regional Season, you may continue to Audition for other scholarships in another city, but may not re-audition for Outstanding Dancer.
  • Independent Dancers are welcome to attend the workshop and audition, but are not eligible to audition for Outstanding Dancer Scholarships.

In each city, two or three dancers will be recognized with a NYCDA 2023-2024 Regional Outstanding Dancer Award. This presentation includes scholarships to STEPS ON BROADWAY, PERIDANCE CENTER and BROADWAY DANCE CENTER, a year-long NYCDA Regional scholarship and a NYCDA 2024 National Season Finale! Workshop Scholarship.

In each city, additional dancers will each receive a NYCDA 2024 National Season Finale! Workshop Scholarship, as Regional runners-up.

All Senior winners and runners-up from the Regional NYCDA Scholarship Audition Class will be eligible to participate in the National NYCDA Senior Outstanding Dancer Experience in July of 2024. Cash awards and Scholarships will be presented.

  • Only auditionees and registered Teachers will be given access to the audition ballroom. Absolutely no observers.
  • The “Convention Finale” will include final scholarship announcements and awards.
  • Final results are at the discretion of the judges.
